Dr. Alia Al Mazrouei: Championing Emirati Talent and Women’s Empowerment in the UAE’s Healthcare Future
In a recent article published by AlKhaleej, Dr. Alia Al Mazrouei, visionary Chief Executive Officer of Clemenceau Medical Center Hospital in Dubai, laid out a compelling vision for the UAE’s healthcare sector. At the heart of her vision lies a call to action: encourage and empower Emirati citizens, particularly women, to join and lead the healthcare industry, especially within the private sector.
Dr. Alia Al Mazrouei, stated that it is necessary to encourage national cadres to join healthcare programs, in preparation for their integration into the private health sector, without neglecting our responsibility to support those who have joined us from brotherly and friendly countries and contributed to the development of the health sector. I am confident that Emirati cadres will innovate in this field. I went through this experience when I practiced my profession as a surgeon at Rashid Hospital, where I formed the first all-female surgical team there.
I hope to see an all-Emirati surgical team in the near future, and I believe that a large part of the success of my leadership of a private hospital, as the first Emirati woman, comes from my experience in the field of medicine, where I learned how to empathize with patients and understand their concerns, and witnessed first-hand the challenges faced by the medical staff.
This experience taught me early in my career that successful hospital administrators must have a strong understanding of the healthcare environment, balancing the demands of medical staff and the ability to meet patient expectations.
